THE ICPR STUDY is in the third year of conduct and has enrolled 590 participants who will be followed up for 24 months to study the progression of periodontal diseases using baseline saliva and plaque as biomarkers. Eight CE sessions about different topics in research methods have been presented and links to the recording can be found at
Ten DMD students and 4 faculty are enrolled in the Certificate on Applied Clinical Research, and the first Cohort will be finishing in Fall 2026. In addition, the project is currently being evaluated by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and very positive feedback has been received. These efforts translate into our best ever ranking (24 out of 49 NIH funded dental schools) and the significant presence we will have at the next AADOCR meeting in San Diego with 25 abstracts accepted for poster and oral presentations. Finally, the first publication of this major project has been accepted and will be soon published by the Journal of Dental Research and Clinical and Translational Research.
